I'm creating a new network from scratch and I'm not
positive where I
want a couple things hosts. There will be four servers in
total with
80 internal users and a additional 20 remote users. The
remote users
really only need OWA. I'm looking to have a active
directory setup.
The thing I'm not sure on is how I should delegate out the
services on
the servers. Heres my server list:
Server A - Windows 2003 Standard x64 (dual core 2.8 XEON,
8Gb ram, 6x
146Gb 15k drives in raid 5)
Server B - Windows 2003 Standard x86 (dual core 2.8 XEON,
4Gb ram, 6x
146Gb 15k drives in raid 5)
Server C - Windows 2003 Web Edition (single core 2.8 Xeon,
2Gb ram, 2x
146Gb 10k drives in raid 1)
I'm thinking this is the correct way of doing it:
Server A will be the domain controller and host AD, DNS,
DHCP, files,
and printers
Server B will by the exchange box and host email + OWA
Server C will be the web server and host IIS6/ASP
I will have a ISA box on our internet connection in addition
to this.
We want our customers to be able to access the web server
and also use
it internally. Is my distibution of services correct or is
there a
more efficient way of doing it. Also when I name the
servers do I have
to make the web servers name "www". The domain
I will be using for AD
is already registered to us (i.e. example.com) so do I need
to make the
web server www to complete that or can I use my own internal
naming.
