VPN connection is configured between server Windows 2003 and
client
Windows XP. It is simple PPTP connection. But I have problem
with
access to a local network behind server. I suspect rong
configuration
on serwer. How configure serwer 2003 to permit access to
local network
from VPN.

Second problem is with addressing. When VPN connection is
established
serwer has this configuration:
ip address = 192.168.0.1
mask = 255.255.255.0
default gateway = none

client has this configuration:
ip address = 192.168.0.2
mask = 255.255.255.0
default gateway = 192.168.0.2

Those computers see each other but in my opinion this is
something
wrong with configuration of VPN.

Thx for any suggestions.
pchomik

pchomik,

Can you run "ipconfig /all > ipconfig.txt" at
the command prompt on
both the server and the workstation, then paste the results
into a
reply? That would help the group in assisting you on this
issue.
Thanks.

Server & Client:

That's your problem. Your TCP/IP settings are misconfigured
for DNS.
They should point to your local DNS server, not the ISP DNS
server.

As Justin said and additionally the default gateway setting
on the
xxx.xxx.xxx.2 address should point to another IP address
that is not
itself or it will direct all traffic back to itself.

Sean, you're primarily right, but in the case of this
"PPP adapter"
created by the VPN client connection, this may actually be
what he's
meant to see. At least mine behaves that way.

In any event, there needs to be some changes made in the
RRAS snap-in
and probably DHCP snap-in as well in order to get this
configuration
fixed. This brings another point; you want to have a local
(preferably
AD-integrated) DNS service, with root forwarding, running on
this
network-if you do not already. Then, configure DHCP and RRAS
to point
client computers to only that preferred DNS server.

Hi
Thx for helping me but I solve my problem with gateway. In
client
should be selected option "Use default gateway from
Remote Access". But
... I have another. When I restart server all connection
with
authentication by certificates are not possible. All
services starts
without problems and I can't find source of problem :(

Maybe someone had this problem?
