Thread: Terminal Server Load

Terminal Server Load

We need to get more users on to our Terminal Server. I've
tried all of
the optimization tips from Microsoft, but still have times
when user
profiles won't load, which is usually when the 4GB or ram is
maxed
out. How do we get less profile info loading?

Thanks

What is eating up your memory in this peak usage scenario?
If you have
enough users to create a memory bottleneck (and subsequently
a storage
I/O bottleneck), that it might be time to look at a 64-bit
server to
bump that 4 GB memory limitation up to 32 or 64 GB,
os-depending.

you could also think about using mandatory profiles for all
of the
users that contain a minimum amount of data, so that not as
much
initially loads and even if they make changes to the profile
it won't
save the changes. Search on Microsoft's site for mandatory
profiles
and you'll see what i mean.

I've recommended moving to 2003 enterprise and 8 GB or ram,
but I'm
going to see what I can do with mandatory profiles as well.
That won't
work for all users.
