DCHP & DNS problems after installing Windows updates
user name

What OS Version are you using? Windows 2003 R2
Are you using Active Directory? Yes

After installing 5 Windows updates the DHCP server stopped
giving out
addresses and DNS was not updating in the DHCP logs. This
happened on
all 4 Windows 2003 servers. We moved all the updates on 1
server which
fixed the DHCP issue, but not the DNS issue. Another server
we removed
the updates but DHCP still will not give out new address and
no DNS
events are reported in the DCHP logs.

These are the 5 windows updates we installed.
Windows Server 2003 Security Update for Windows Server 2003
(KB941569)
Windows Server 2003 Security Update for Windows Server 2003
(KB944653)
Windows Server 2003 Cumulative Security Update for Internet
Explorer 7
for Windows Server 2003 (KB942615)
Windows Server 2003 Security Update for Windows Server 2003
(KB941568)
Windows Server 2003 Update for Windows Server 2003
(KB942763)

Thanks,
Rick

Most of the Server 2003 Updates and Server 2003 Security
Updates I
install immediately ask me to restart. Have you had the joy,
the
opportunity, the pleasure of restarting your servers since
installing
that group of updates?

Yes, I restarted the servers and removed the updates once we
noticed
the problem. One server is working fine now after removing
the
updates, but the other two are still not working correctly.

Rick,

After adding the the updates did you check to see if the
DHCP server
was still authorized in the domain ?

What duties do you have the servers performing ?
