Dell touchpad scroll not working?

WingIDE looks great and I'm really excited about it, but one thing is really bugging me: my laptop touchpad is set up to allow me to scroll by dragging my finger along the right edge, and this is every bit as integral to my UI experience as the mouse scroll wheel is on a desktop. In other words, I can't live without it. Unfortunately, my touchpad won't scroll any of WingIDE's windows. I've fiddled with the options in the touchpad software, but it didn't help. ; Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix or workaround?

It does not seem to work on my HP Pavilion laptop. The
touchpad scroll does
work in other apps. The mouse scroll wheel works in Wing.

Works for me with a Thinkpad R40 under X11-6.8.2 on Gentoo
Linux. My touchpad
does both up/down & left/right scrolling & both work
in Wing. I reported a
bug about this a few dot releases ago, and it was quickly
fixed. If you're
not using the latest, you might try upgrading.

I'm also hooked on touchpad scrolling. And my EraserMouse.
Why you would want
to take your hands off the keyboard to move a mouse is
beyond me. ;)

Thanks again to WingFolks for the great support.

Unfortunately, I only downloaded Wing yesterday, so I don't think it's a matter of getting a newer version. I downloaded SciTE just to see whether it might be a problem with Scintilla, but the scrolling is fine, there.

What OS are you using? It could be a case of the touchpad
driver not
emitting the messages that Wing expects when scroll-dragging
is used.
It does work on my XP system with a Alps touchpad. On the
other hand,
the dedicated scroll button on some Thinkpads and other
laptops is known
not to work with Wing under Windows because of how the
driver works.

Thanks,

John

Which os are you using ?
For me vertical scrolling works well with Linux 2.6.18 and
Xorg 7.1.
Horizontal scrolling doesn't work, but it less important.

FWIW, horizontal scrolling works for me on Ubuntu 5.10
(kernel
2.6.12) with a Synaptics touch pad, although I'm not
terribly
happy w/ the action, which can be a bit jumpy. I don't know
if
this is driver or pad specific or not.
