Hi

SUSE 9.3 ships xterm-200. Changelog for xterm-206:

[...]
* modify resource files to make the font-resources a little
more
  specific, e.g., changing "*VT100*" to
"*VT100.", to make the
  distinction between VT100.font and VT100.utf8Fonts.font
sharper, in
  case a packager modifies one of those.

I cannot reproduce your problem. Maybe you still have
"*VT100*" set
somewhere, which then will be preferred. Check with
"xrdb -query".
