Thanks for the help. I do see the 'xray' with a version number. I didn't see it before as I was dropping it on the side of the stage which just so happens to be the same color as the text of the component.
Can I simply drop the component on stage, or do I need to put it into a movieclip? Everything else is in order.

Sorry man, I wish I did, but at this point (as is the case in the past) we're at a point where I'd have to see your code to try and diagnose what it might
be. If you're not seeing "xray" with a version number when you drop it on stage, then, something's not set correctly (IE: somethings wrong at that point in the IDE, not with Xray).
I would verify that this is Flash8, ActionScript 2, flash 8 IDE, and that you're dropping xray into a movieclip container, and not a graphics contain on accident. Other than that, I have no clue.

Any additional thoughts on why this may be occurring?
Thanks.

John --- Thank s for the help.
I am using the component in the IDE, however I am not loading it externally. When the component is dragged on stage, is it supposed to have an icon associated with it as mine does not. I did try your suggestions and unfortunately they did not work. I am guessing that it has something to do with this particular fla and associated classes as it works in other swfs.
Thanks.

can you give some other details?
1. are you
using the component in the IDE? 2. are you loading it externally as a Swf?
Here's one solution to try:
1. in the library, find the xray component
2. right click, choose "Linkage" 3. uncheck to have it export in first frame 4. make sure xray is on stage in the main timeline 5. Put this code in frame1 of your main timeline or in the constructor of your main class:
com.blitzagency.xray.Xray.initConnections()
publish and test
Let mek now if that works

You can drop it on stage in the main timeline or just put it in your library - it doesn't actually have to be on stage at all.
