Can't wait with the news -- I just ran the internal tests we have and
all previously broken XMLs passed them. Thanks guys.

I haven't heard back from anyone on this yet.

Using the "site" parameter with the Yahoo Image search API appears to be
broken. Example:

http://search.yahooapis.com/ImageSearchService/V1/imageSearch?appid=YahooDemo&query=school&site=www.odu.edu

returns 0 images while the public web interface returns 30 for the same
query:

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=site%3Awww.odu.edu+school&ei=UTF-8&fr=sfp&x=wrt

Thanks,
Frank

I hate to be a pain in the neck about this, but I noticed that someone
on the general search API list complained about the same problem on Jan
2, 2007:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/yws-search-general/message/742

Jeremy, could you let us know that Yahoo is at least aware of the
problem and is looking into a fix? My application Warrick (a tool for
reconstructing lost websites from search engine caches) won't work (for
Yahoo) without the site functionality.

Thanks,
Frank

I'll file a bug for that one internally.

Thanks for the report--and persisting.

No more Google SOAP web search API

Probably most of you have heard by now that Google has deprecated their
SOAP-based web search API, and there are a lot of developers who are
very angry about the situation.

I am very thankful to Yahoo for their API, and I think there is a great
opportunity for them to take the lead in this area. Thank you Jeremy
for keeping an eye on this list and reporting bugs to the API group.

Regards,
Frank

Oops... I just saw this a few hours after sending the other email.
Thanks for taking care of this, Jeremy. I guess there's some delay in
delivering email to this group... I periodically get a batch delivered
that contains posts that are several days old.

a$$holes! THANKS Google... maybe, just maybe, AJAX is **NOT** the way we want to run our queries... DON'T SHOVE AJAX DOWN OUR THROATS!

THANKS FOR WASTING YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT, GOOGLE... I'LL REMEMBER THAT WHEN I CONSIDER MY CLIENT'S 100K+/MONTH OF PPC AD SPENDING... I think I'll give it to Yahoo instead.

I hope Google's listening to this thread.
