I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the new YDL 4.1
has made any
improvements on wireless access. I know that Airport
Extreme is still a
problem, but that doesn't affect me (my iBook has a regular
Airport card).
But in 4.0.1, Kwifimanager was basically nonfunctional (it
crashed on launch)
and I was never able to get it working even with help from
the TerraSoft
people. So the only way I found I could get my iBook to
recognize a new
wireless zone was to reboot. Maybe I'm missing something
obvious here?

Anyway, I'm still running 4.0.1 for the moment, but I'm
eager to try the new
4.1.

Thanks,
-PRH

Hi Paul:
In YDL 4.1 there is an option to select Airport as your
wireless
device. Be sure to select it such that it is associated
with useing
eth1.
Of course the tool to do this is the net config app.

I cannot say that it works as I have a PB with Airport
Extreme.

Good Luck.....

It sounds like wireless is set up in YDL 4.1 much the same
as it is in 4.0.1,
using System Settings > Network. However, what I'm
interested in (if it
exists) is a way for the system to recognize a new wireless
zone without
rebooting. From what I understand, Kwifimanager is supposed
to do this, but
at least in 4.0.1 it won't run (crashes on launch). You
can find
Kwifimanager under Internet > More Internet Applications
(at least that's how
it is on my iBook, running 4.0.1).

If anyone has advice on getting Kwifimanager working,
possibly by installing
from source, I'm interested. The TerraSoft people didn't
really have any
idea what to do about the problem.

Also, re: the unsupported Airport Extreme cards, what can be
used instead for
wireless access?

Thanks,
-PRH
