I am wondering how to backup PS3 for linux and is there a
way to
connect the ps3 to dvi monitor.

Hello, for backup you can use external disc and
tar/dd/rsync/"other backup
solution" the entire partitions to it. As for DVI
monitor you will need
HDMI->DVI cable and monitor must support HDCP!
