One of my surgeons said that if you can go 6 weeks without bleeding
that means that the incision is healing. He said that that is how
long it takes to heal. If you keep splitting every 2 weeks then it
sounds like it may not have a chance to fully heal.
As far as diet... I had (yes HAD) problems with hard large stools.
About once a month for no reason (or hormone reasons) I would have
large hard stools for 3 days or so. Also, many days just the
beginning was hard but that was enough. I had to go on a diet and
gave up the vast majority of grains I was eating. No more raisin
bran, whole wheat pasta, etc. Once I gave up that extra fiber my
stool became smaller in diameter and constitantly softer. I have
only had that hard beginning stool a couple of times, but they were
the size of marbles and caused no problems. Maybe you are getting
too much fiber and that causes the larger harder stool. I did not
have the hard stool problem until I went on the fissure diet and
added in the extra grains.
I now eat citrucel (1 dose, 2 mg fiber), Konsyl (1/2 dose 3 mg
fiber), 311 mg MOM twice a day (going to cut back to once a day,
still want the Mg for migraines etc.), drink water (much less than I
used to with all the fiber), eat pleny of fruits and veggies. Still
have cheese (almost daily), chicken, seafood when I want it and
occasionaly have pasta and bread (normal bread too!). This is
basically the diet I ate before the fissure fiasco. I still use the
nif too, may or may not need it but I want to somewhat enjoy my
summer.
I know how you feel. When my butt was at it worst I missed all kinds
of stuff - europe trip, new orleans trip (and boy did I end up
missing that), family outings were a drag since I worried contantly
about food and water.
Hope you find a way to heal up soon. I know it totally sucks
