My LIS is Wednesday am. First I am going to have a colonoscopy, and
after an hour I am having the LIS. Both will be under 'Twilight"
anesthesia.

I have to do prep for the colonoscopy and the surgeon said I am going
to "hate" her because of it. I have to rink this phospho soda at 1PM
and at 7PM Tuesday. This will empty out my entire intestinal system
apparently. It sounds like I will be spending Tuesday on the toilet,
thus the reason why I will hate her. My anal fissure is going to be
very, very angry.

Now, is this accurate? Will I really be on the toilet all day and
night?

What is this twilight anesthesia like?

I am having pre-surgery jitters. I have always been much better at
handling emergency surgery and ER trips than scheduled appointments
and scheduled surgery. Obviously, I have anxiety issues *l*

Holly, I found that drinking the phosphate stuff with warm 7-up was more tolerable than using cold stuff. It was salty but I didn't really mind it. You will be going to the bathroom more. I thought I'd be up all night but I wasn't. But everyone's body is different. I did go several times in the morning and as soon as I got to the hospital again. My fissure was really bad but having that kind of diarrhea didn't make it worse or more sore for me.

The 'twilight' sleep works well. You might as well consider yourself pretty out of it. They did me a little lighter but they said it was because of my weight. I felt myself surging in and out a few times. But I saw some really neat kaleidoscope patterns on the floor by the anethesiologist's feet.

Hi Holly,

About the phospho - you won't be on the toilet all day, but it will
clean you out kind of violently. As I remember it, it was like diahrea
squared. I think I went to toilet 3 or 4 times, at most. It might
depend on what you've got inside of you at the time. And my bet is that
will really aggravate the fissure, as diahrea tends to do. Hope I'm
wrong about that.

Can't speak to the twilight anasthesia.

Good luck.

My doc would NOT do the colonoscopy and fissure surgery at the same time, due to the prep for the colonoscopy being so intense. From what i hear, yes, you'll be on the potty most of the day and night on your prep day....the twilight is wonderful..very quick...quick to sleep, quick to wake up...it was kinda nice WIsh I had some right now..hahaha..
GOod luck to you!
