Hi Jo,
I had my surgery on 9/19, and like you am having a horrible time with
spasms. Not the glass feeling, but more like the have to grab your
butt feeling right? ha ha. It usually takes about 3 hours to pass
after BM, very reminiscent of fissure days huh? I too thought I
would be much better off by now, but the spasms and itching are
keeping me from getting back to work. I've also wondered if the LIS
worked. I'm still living my life around my BM's, and from all the
feedback on this board, it sounds like the concensus is that it takes
a while to fully heal, and you just can't rush it. We have every
reason to be optimistic that everything is on track!
I have stopped taking stool softeners except 250 mg. of magnesium
with my Calcium supplement at night, as stools were just too soft,
not formed. I called the doc today to see if I can get a Rx for
Lidocaine 5% to help with the itching. Unfortunately still taking
valium, I tried to wean off, but my rear just isn't ready, it does
help a little with the spasms.
Poop science. Its ridiculous isn't it? My poor husband is so tired
of hearing about my butt. I'm just glad I can share with you all who
have been there or are going through it with me.
Keep me posted on how your doing, I'm rooting for us to all have a
speedy recovery, we just have to get over this initial hurdle, and
that you will never have to have another surgery for this again!
Lisa
