Do you remeber me? I've been out of the list for a coupple of years My
name is Seb I am now 57 years old. As I said I'm not new to the list
since I had AF problems begining in 1994. My story :I began with an AF
in 1994 that healed by its own. Afterwards in 1995 It was reopened
after a colonoscopy and healed again.
Then I had 2 anal abscesses one in 1996 and the other in 1997 and
finally I developed a fistula in ano in late 1997. I went through a
fistula surgery and since then all seamed to work well with no problems
of incontinence at all. In 2002 my Doc performed an anoscopy
and discover a small ulcer in my anal canal. The Dr. told me that he
didn't see the muscle as in a active fissure but he saw that small
ulcer with "epithelium" on it. He told me that probably I have to deal
with some kind of discomfort the rest of my life as when you have
fistula surgery the scar tissue is more fragile than the rest of the
normal mucosa and though is more likely to suffer small cracks ,etc.By
that time, JR, you were very positive to me and adviced me to use some
sort of lubrication for my ulcer aplying A&D cream, etc.
The years had passed and I have been quite well with lets say 2 or 3
times a month episodes of pain due to spams that lasted few days. Quite
well for me.
On March 2006 I went to see my Doc to a routine examination and he made
me a visual inspection (no anoscopy) and he told me that the ulcer in
the scar tissue was healed (epithelium on it) and he didn't see nothing
to worry about.
The problem is that 1 month and 10 days ago I had a dry and hard BM and
all started again...pain and spam. I don't have normaly constipation
problems but this was a single but unlucky day. I must say that the
pain is not as severe as it could be but I makes my daily work (I'm an
engineer) some times very uncorfortable and anoying. I didn't return to
my Doctor, as the treatment in my counry is limited to sitbaths, A&D
creams etc. Instead of that I decide to travel in 10 days to the USA
(I'm from south America)as I schedulled an appointment with Dr Gorfine
in NYC (I read about him and it seems to be an excellent and very kind
Doctor). I am afraid my ulcer was reopened.Do you think I should visit
my Doc prior to my trip so he may compare both situations (march vs
actual).
Do you know if there is a member of the group that had passed by
fistula surgery as I did?
I will apreciatte very much your coments and the others members as well
Kind regards
Seb
