CALL FOR NOMINATIONS - DEADLINE SEPT 1, 2006

NATAREF AWARDS

The NATA Research and Education Foundation Research Board of Directors is
seeking nominations for the following 3 awards:

1) Medal for Distinguished Athletic Training Research
2) New Investigator Award
3) Doctoral Dissertation Award

Nominations are due to John Oliver at the NATA Foundation by September 1, 2006.

To nominate an individual, members need only submit the nominee's name, address
and phone number to John Oliver either via US mail or email. All nominations
received by September 1 will be considered for the following year's award.

Medal for Distinguished Athletic Training Research

· Earned a doctorate 10 or more years ago

· Demonstrated a prolific and sustained body of research in an area of
importance to athletic training

· Demonstrates a quality line of research that advances theory

· Demonstrated impact of research findings on athletic training

· Demonstrated impact of individual career on athletic training

· Quality of work takes precedence over the number of presentations &
publications

New Investigator Award

· Earned a doctoral degree within the past 5 years

· Must be first author of submitted & accepted abstract that includes
dissertation research

· Demonstrates potential for a sustained line of research in an area important
to Athletic Training & health care of the physically active

· Demonstrates a quality line of research that advances theory

· Quality of work takes precedence over the number of presentations &
publications

Doctoral Dissertation Award

· The nominee must be a current BOC certified athletic trainer in good
standing

· The nominee must be the principal author of a published (or accepted for
publication) manuscript that emanates from his or his dissertation research

· The nominee's manuscript must advance theory of the health-care of the
physically active

· The nominee's manuscript must demonstrate potential for a sustained line of
research in an area of importance to the health-care of the physically active
