Christina,

There was one case I could think of but I believe there were a few more. Knapp was a scholarship basketball player at Northwester who did not receive medical clearance to participate because of a cardiac condition. The courts initially ruled Northwestern could not prohibit him from participating, thereby "legally" clearing him for participation. Upon appeal this was reversed and Northwestern was able to prohibit Knapp from participating while a student-athlete at their institution. He subsequently transferred schools.

NICHOLAS KNAPP v. NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY
UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE SEVENTH CIRCUIT

101 F.3d 473; 1996 U.S. App. LEXIS 30390

November 7, 1996, Argued
November 22, 1996, Decided

Hope this helps. - - Mitch
