So much of what we do is based on personal contact.
I have had success writing directly to individuals who use inaccurate terminology in their news stories. As a subscriber to a major market newspaper, I have been pleased to at least elicit a response from the writers, and even got a sincere apology from another who asked if she could use me as a reference for the future!
While we may expect NATA to represent us as a profession, I think that whenever possible, carefully considered corrections delivered to the source on a personal level will have a greater impact.
