I know as ATEP faculty we are all concerned with faculty numbers, PD and
CC as well as ACI:student ratios. I am wondering as persons are
responding to the listserv; for those faculty that are clinical or split
in nature, or are staff ATC's that serve as ACI's or adjunct
instructors; what is their athletic coverage load? Is it a major and
minor sport? Is it one sport per season? I think that this piece is
relevant to the discussion as a whole.
At KSC there is 1 full time faculty, however, there are 2 full time
faculty within the PE dept, of which we are housed that teach our
students.
Additionally, I have 3 ATC's that are Professional Academic
Technician's. I guess our equivalent to a clinical faculty position
elsewhere. We also have 1 contracted staff ATC that is solely an ACI
with no didactic teaching requirements.
Our issue is not being overloaded with students in the ATEP at this
point; although our numbers are growing... it is the overloaded athletic
coverage. Currently, the 4 ATC's (3 PAT's and one ACI) cover all sports
(no FB).
My thoughts...
