I am currently enrolled in a MS Health Sciences program at IUPUI
(Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis) which also offers
a BS Health Sciences degree.  The purpose of the program is to develop
the ability to teach or be a program director for an allied health
sciences field.  The program is designed for either allied health
professionals that only require a BS degree to teach (like paramedics,
dental assisting, dental hygenist, radiology tech., etc.) or for allied
health professionals that require a MS degree to teach (like nursing,
OT, athletic training, etc.) ; If you are a MS student, it requires more
work and a higher level of work that the BS level.  The classes are
listed at both undergrad and graduate level in the School of Health and
Rehab Sciences that also houses the OT program, dietetic program and DPT
programs.

I have seen nothing but success with the program.  I don't believe
there are really any drawbacks.  It increases the number of students
that can take the program, where either program by itself would be
limited.  As long as all students have met the basic prerequisites, I
think it would work well for AT programs.
