There have always been "bad people".  That's just
part of the joy of existence.

I'm referring to losing our way, in an effort to get
revenge, or be
powerful/in-attackable, or whatever.

Becoming evil to fight evil.

Don't get me wrong, I love Spawn and anti-heroes and
whatnot, that's
pretty bad-ass...

But I like Captain America (for america) more, or something
like that.

The ends do not justify the means.  Pretty simple.

Revenge? Man, your ideas are really strange. Trying to stop
people from
killing me is not revenge. I'm in NY. I can have my bag
searched at any time
on the train because of known, direct threats to my life. Is
that piece of
security losing our way?

Evil? What evil? If your talking phone tapping, there are
groups fighting
that (and other intrusions to personal space). That's the
wonder of our
country - we can fight the powers that be and win. And not
lose our head.

And if the means are not what we want, we can fight them and
win but some of
the means are acceptable. I'm willing to have my bag
searched when I enter a
public place of transport. I'm not willing to have my home
searched without
a warrant. How far are you willing to go when you know for a
fact someone
wants you dead (and yes, I know for a fact that more than
one someone wants
me dead as a New-Yorker)

How far are you willing to go when you know for a fact that
someone wants
you dead and has shown it by shooting directly at you?
