Thanks Jack, but as Jay suggested it might have been my firewall..and it was.  I added my desktop pc into the trusted zone and now I have no problems using it the next morning.
I appreciate your help. ; And yes..I am using DHCP..that's as much as I know..I have alot to learn about networking..and I'm trying to understand all the "protocols", etc.  But in my D-Link config program I added my laptop, and my other desktop into an area where it's ....heck..I don't know the word..but it's something to do with the lease I guess..I'm sorry..I just don't understand all this stuff..I'm really trying to tho.  I do research all the time..I'm sure I may have some settings wrong, in the D-Link setup program..but it's working..and I have firewalls on all my pc's.

Have you tried to do an ipconfig /release  and then ipconfig /renew ?  Sometimes the lease on your IP address (assuming you are using DHCP) may have run out depending on how the router is set up.  Just a thought.
