Correct. And I'd love to see iTunes and iPods support WMA.
It'd
make life a lot easier for everyone.

Now if only the players were supported on something other
than Windows
—I've yet to run into one that is. My previous MP3 player
could do
WMA, but I couldn't get it to work on my desktop under Linux
and BSD
nor on my OS X laptop.

Yes, Apple does some evil and stupid stuff. See below
comment.

A lot of their Mac software isn't good. Logically, they
focus on
Windows versions. I'd do the same in their shoes.

I was *just* talking to my mom about Microsoft before I came
back
into my room. In the last few years, Microsoft has stopped
seeming
so evil. Apple...I'm kind of worried about them.

Does it? I've not heard of any successful runs, only people
frying
their EFI (~BIOS) by trying.

I've got a friend running it on a self-built x86 box.

Linux runs fine on this if I didn't want to run OS X,
FreeBSD 6
either runs well or is close to running well on it.

For any type of Audio Editing, i use Goldwave 4.x (dont like 5.12 for anything other than large audio tracks being recorded.... but thats just me.  I'm just not used to it yet.)

You can edit, record, split, fix pops etc etc etc with ease.

www.goldwave.com

try that & see if that'll work. ; You might have to get a plug-in for it.

My Creative Zen Micro will play WMA & MP3's. Read the
specs on them. I do
not see why they would only support WMA unless they are
cheap. Also
royalties have to be paid for MP3 support and not WMA.

Yes, I hear their office suite only has a word proc and
presentation no db
of spreadsheet app.

Yes, that are not as evil.

Correction I think it is the next version of Vista or
something but the RTM
is supposed to.

I've got a friend running it on a self-built x86 box.

Yes you can, but it is not legal, so technically it does not
count in the
discussion.

You sure could. But do you see an novice to average person
touching Linux
right now? They eithe go Win of Mac. I am sure there are
some exceptions.

Oh, and thanks for all your help. Grandma's iMac is perrring
very nicely.
