hehehehe who said I was addicted-- I just gave you the info-- <G> well Cuffy if you have a souped up ole car -- you can drive along ; fast(speed limit) on the highway -- or a newer car if not they will cream you at least over here on the Q,E. . Fast computers today have its advantages-- I want to get it done. ; technology is changing I am not glued to the TV or the computer -- I have aqua therapy 3 times a week plus I do a 100 laps in the pool each time. ; I have other things to do I am fascinated with tech though I don't watch TV , but I like to tinker with computers. and software I surf- on the net for computer parts ;how to configure things and software, I love to learn I read a lot.and ask questions. Yes things become out of date fast you are right but the key is to be mediocre. You have a great evening. and thank you Jackie

I knew it ! You're addicted..................
First it's eight bit, then 16 ! Soon you become dissatified with 16 bit and scream for more. You start hating Microsoft for the crappy 32 bit stuff but can/t wait to upgraded. The video is crappy with that 64 mb card so you go to 128............... then 256.
Still not satisfied so it's on to a 64 bit OS and a 1GB vid............. no end it sight ! It's sad but it will take years before the government will ever set up a rehab center. In the meantime, we all feel for you but can't help. You will probably never recover from the "MORE" and "FASTER" addiction so watch for a new 2GB vid and what ever follows and hope you get this one tweaked and the bugs out before somebody gets a 128 bit OS off the drawing board.
I recall something from my youth about a cat chasing it's tail but I would never mention it here !

Good luck !!!

You said
This is where you're heading Jackie................ not very pretty picture ! I am not sure if this was directed

Hi Cuffy I do have Asus Sli A8N Deluxe motherboard right of the start - I flashed the bios, I have disabled the sli, using one Video card, disable the both satas-- in the bios and on the motherboard disabling

For almost a year now, i've been part of something that has been very fruitful for getting me *some* things i've needed, disposing of *some* things...and making some new friends.

Check these out & if you're wondering what to to with all your "old stuff" (computers, "stuff", car parts, bike parts, building materials, etc etc etc)...here's a new home for em!

http://www.freecycle.org

Basically, find your own local chapter of Freecycle...and go from there.

http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheapcycle

Unfortunately, there is no "specific" Cheapcycle group, like Freecycle...but that Wikipedia reference should help you out.

Enjoy the addiction....

Been using the group for my county and 2 neighboring counties for a while now - some ; things it works out for, others it's just a waste of typing to post. Was able to give away quite a few old inkjet printers last year that I got as industrial cast-offs and they are still in use as far as I know. Got rid of bikes and parts that were cluttering my garage too, helped in clearing it to get working on converting it to my shop/office.

Yeah...i'm on a few of em around here (Mt Clemens, MI, area).

Same thing like you, Russ...Bike Parts, Computer Parts..."other stuff".

I've always tried to "find uses" for what i have...and it's been positive, so far. I've had a few people say that they wanted something, then not show up for it...but aside from that, no big thing.

I just figured i'd share with the rest of the group...

If ya need something...why not ask? It doesn't hurt...plus it'll help keep the stuff from gathering Landfill Dirt!

I have had good luck even with junk - there are some mom/pop scrappers around that watch the ads and they's take anything from old pipes to whole cars. Of course the cars I get money for from a local salvage yard so I don't post those on the free list unless they are totally destroyed and have no value for parts.

We have a few for sale/trade groups in our area as well that I'm able to move low cost items on that I don't think should be let go for free...

Guys,

I'm an IT guy by trade and enjoy working on reviving old equipment. I've been spending a lot of time rebuilding old computers and donating them to churches and youth groups. It's fun to find people who can't afford a computer and set them up with one. I have also been reselling some of the surplus stuff at my store. If you have any old computer equipment you wan't to get rid of I always seem to find someone who needs it.

Likewise if you know of an organization or group that needs computers, please let me know as well. ; I'm a bit farther north in Michigan, around the Lapeer area.

Take Care !
