Apparently my copy of Windows XP is not genuine. I have
ordered a new
copy and while shopping, I decided to upgrade my hard drive
as well.
Which should I install first, the new OS or the new
harddrive?

If you're replacing your old drive, install the drive
first. If the new
drive will be a secondary drive, you don't have to install
it before
the OS, but you still should to avoid annoyances later.
