XP Setup: 8000

Oops. I've messed up my XP installation. It's a new computer and I finally
got around to firing up the 8000, and it's not going well.

If the scanner's not connected, NikonScan reports no active scanner.
If the scanner is connected, NikonScan hangs.

I uninstalled NikonScan (3.0 actually), and reinstalled (4.0).

Same story.

I think the problem is that I let 'Doze install the scanner, pointing it at
the XP drivers. I've uninstalled the scanner (in Device Manager), but that
hasn't helped.

Any ideas?

Have you done ALL of the XP service pack installs???

Have you got the latest drivers (specific to your computer)
for the Firewire interface? Does the Firewire interface show
up as installed and happy in Device Manager?

I've had no issues getting NikonScan 4 installed on XP.

Also: root around in the Documents and Settings folder(s)
and delete any node labeled Nikon (and of course, all sub-
nodes.)

Are you running the 32 bit version or the 64 bit version of XP. Nikon
scan will not work on 64 bit operating systems.
