If the "high-water mark" could be estimated
*before* OutputPass (that
is, before the unpredictable disk space usage starts), it
could be a
useful feature. But *some* kind of estimate, even at the
end of
OutputPass and even if only approximate, would be useful a
useful
conversion statistic to get a feel for what typical
multipliers are.
