Hi,
We have a serious problem with spam on the "issues cvs2svn.tigris.org"
mailing list.
A couple of months ago, I manually deleted (dozens?
hundreds?) of spam
emails from the issues mailing list archive. Today I did it
again.
This is a real hassle, partly because the workflow for
deleting mails
using the collabnet interface is rather awkward. (I wish
the delete
confirmation screen would display the email about to be
deleted.)
I haven't noticed the spam emails in my personal inbox. I
don't know
why. Maybe they are filtered out very effectively at my
end, or maybe
at the collabnet side *after* they are inserted into the
mailing list
archive.
About a week ago, I started getting emails requesting me to
"MODERATE"
emails sent to the issues mailing list. Most of the
messages have been
spam, but I just got a pile of MODERATE requests for
legitimate emails.
I suppose that I am getting these messages via the
"owner cvs2svn.tigris.org" email address, but I'm not
sure. (The mail
headers only mention "httpd-owner cvs2svn.tigris.org".) I am also not
sure who else gets these MODERATE request emails or who is
on the
"owner cvs2svn.tigris.org" mailing list, though I
suppose that it is an
alias for the project owners.
I'm not psyched about being a human spam filter. Is there
a way that
this system could be configured to be spam-resistant? (For
example,
only allow emails originating in the issue tracker?)
I don't seem to get any spams from the other cvs2svn
mailing lists.
Thanks,
Michael

Anything anyone could do to reduce the SPAM on the cvs2svn
mailing list
would be greatly appreciated. 99% of the SPAM I get is from
this list.
Thanks,

I flipped the list from "unmoderated" mode into
"discuss" mode a while
ago, not realizing quite what the "owner cvs2svn..." address actually
was, and not wanting to remove it as a moderator without
knowing.
I've now removed the "owner cvs2svn..." address
from the list of moderators.
Max.
