Tagging local files

Hello,

I am quite new when it comes to using del.icio.us and I have got a
question:

I would like to use the tool to tag and to link to local files like e.g.
c:tempexample.doc

Is there any way to do this and if yes, how?

I justed tested, and with the Firefox Extension, it's possible
to create a link to a file:// ressource. Eg. file:///home/askwar/.bashrc
For your example, using file://c:/temp/example.doc might work.

If you're using a mac, I'd recommend Punakea (www.nudgenudge.eu).
Interestingly, I'm so fond of the description field in delicious that I miss
it in the finder.

I'm sure someone's made something similar for Windows.

Is there a security risk involved with this ability? For exampe, what
if a user tags the url:

BTW you can't run arbitrary programs from a link like this anyway. It's
easy enough to force a link to be opened via javascript, so if this were
true it'd be an enormous hole.
