Hi,

I want to compile dhcp on a server and make a package out
of all the
files associated. I am trying to install in a clean
directory, to be
able to find all of the files I need.
I keep getting error messages like this:

hostnamedomain.com#./configure --prefix=./build
System Type: --prefix=./build
mkdir: Failed to make directory
"work.--prefix=./build"; No such file or
directory
mkdir: Failed to make directory
"work.--prefix=./build/."; No such file
or directory
./configure: work.--prefix=./build/./Makefile: cannot create
mkdir: Failed to make directory
"work.--prefix=./build/client"; No such
file or directory

Is this not supported, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

John

It's not supported. The "configure" script
that comes
with dhcp is not the "real configure" that
everyone is
used to.

It supports only:
  --print-sysname
  --workdir=<workdir>
  --dirs
  --no-links
  --copts=<cc-options>
  <sysname>

So it thinks "--prefix=./build" is your sysname.

I would suggest checkinstall, which does a fine job with
most source
packages.
