Hi Benjamin,
If you're using the 'traditional' format for temporary
citations,
include only the reference number. That is instead of
<Jones, 1987
#84>, just <#84>. As my ancient manual says:
"when it is formatted with
an author-date style, there will be no in-text citation, but
the
reference will appear in the bibliography".
