Why each library includes a file plus a folder?

That one advantage doesn't make any sense, if you delete
the library,
you probably delete the .DATA folder as well.

The story in our department is:
We used endnote 5 for very long time, then we upgraded to V
8.0 couple
of years ago, almost everybody was so pissed off by the
stupid folder
and we downgraded to V 5.0 again. Since the V8 and V5 is
not compatible
(another stupid thing), nobody could stick to V8 since the
majority
voted for V5, the money were considered a complete waste and
they never
check out Endnote update anymore. How sad it that? :-(

The .DATA folder was introduced in version 6. It was an
optional extra,
which
you used if you wanted to store images or other files linked
to your
references.

In version 8 the .DATA folder became an essential part of
every library.
As
well as images, the term lists are now stored in the .DATA
folder.

There is one advantage to the .DATA folder. If a library has
been
deleted in
error, and the .DATA folder is still intact, it is possible
to recreate
the
library from the .DATA folder. Use a text editor (e.g.
Notepad) to
create a
blank file with the same name as the deleted library (e.g.
paleo.enl)
and in
the same folder as the deleted library. Open EndNote and
then open the
new
file, and the library will be regenerated from the .DATA
folder.
