It doesn't matter which column matches- it will replace it
with the
appropriate column as indicated in the selected style. You
don't need
to move the columns around!

Dear Wouter Gerritsma

Most my EndNote files have journal names abbreviated, but my
bibliography requires full names. If most of your
abbreviations use the
same format, you can create a reversed term list. In a
tab-delimited
text file, put the abbreviation (e.g. Acad Manage J) in the
first column
and the full journal name (e.g. Academy of Management
Journal) in the
second column. I open the EndNote-supplied term lists into
Excel and
rearrange the columns then save as a tab-delimited file.
Import the
reversed term list into your library. Then modify your
output style to
use Abbreviation 1. I usually find a few abbreviations that
don't
translate. I also have to update the term lists regularly
to include
more journal titles.

Dear all,

The current PubMed filter and Medline filter
"automatically" takes the
abbreviated journal and directs that tot the Journal title
field. Of
course when you are aware of this problem your can adapt the
filter
(with the filter manager from EndNote 7) and use the JN:
field.
But we have problems of people with substantial files with
abbreviated
titles in the Journal title field. I was wondering if
somebody has a
good procedure of moving the abbreviated titles to the right
field, and
use a term list to complete the full journal titles in an
existing
library.

Yours sincerely

Wouter Gerritsma
