I am a very novice user of Endnote and have a dissertation
due in
shortly.
I am using APA 5th style. I have a few problems/questions
about the
programme that I need help with:

1. Suddenly I am getting the authors initials in the body of
the text
with new references I am inputting and I don't know why. I
keep going
back to the references and changing the names, ensuring that
there is a
comma after the surname and a full stop after each initial
with no space
between initials. This worked successfully before and I
don't
understand why it is not doing so now.

2. When I put two references from the same author in and
then exclude
the author's name I get e.g. 'work by Lang (1975;, 1977)'.
There should
not be a semicolon there and, again, I don't know why there
is.

3. I have completed my Lit Review, with references and
bibliography and
want to cut and past my Empirical Paper right after it so
that they run
as one long document. I have yet to go through the lit
review and put
the refs in from Endnote but I'm worried that if I do this
they will
automatically go into the bibliography of the lit review,
above. Do I
have to put the refs from the empirical paper in a different
library so
Endnote starts a new bibliography at the end of the
empirical paper and
not the lit review or is there another way I should do this
so there are
2 distinct bibliographies within the same document?

4. I believe that I can attach PDF's of documents I have on
my computer
to the references in Endnote - I assume this is so that I
can go
straight to those PDF's should I need to? This would be
ideal for
revising for my viva.
If so, how do I go about this please?

May I please ask anyone kind enough to help me with these
questions to
answer in words of one syllable - I really do NOT know this
programme,
or what it does, very well and am not that computer
literate. Thank
you. Mal.
