There are two ways, and it depends on whether you have any
other fields
in the paper, which you use. If you don't, I would select
all and ctrl
F9, which will remove all linked fields ON A COPY OF THE
MANUSCRIPT. If
the paper comes back and you need to make some changes, you
would rather
do those changes on the Endnote version. Endnote also has a
button,
that removes all EndNote links which looks like a [#] with
an arrow
going up. Using either method will produce a paper that
looks/prints the
same as the formatted document, but will no longer be linked
or
formatable with Endnote.
(Note: THIS IS NOT THE BUTTON TO USE IF YOU JUST WANT TO
UNFORMAT THE
PAPER, the correct button has a curved arrow going out of
the brackets!)

Subject: How to take out the Endnote codes for publication
I plan to submit a paper in which I used Endnote to create
references to
a journal. I was told I need to take out the Endnote codes
before I
submit it the journal because it may cause publication
problems. Is
that true? Also, my co-writer doesn't have Endnote and wants
to be able
to edit the references.
So how do I "disconnect" my paper from Endnote so
any changes that my
co-writer incorporates will stay and when we send to the
journal, all
the Endnote codes will be eliminated but my references would
remain
intact.
I look forward to suggestions. I am currently using Endnote
7 but will
soon have the latest version of Endnote.
