Yes. Get all the information. The first item being -- why
can't they
just restore the library from the backup?

If they were absolute paths, then, according to the User's
Guide:
"[...] if you ever move the file from the original
folder, EndNote will
not be able to access it unless you clear the PDF file from
your
EndNote reference and reinsert it from the new folder
location."
However, if all PDFs were in the same folder, I'd use Change
Text on the
Link to PDF field to change the path globally.
