Thanks Alex. I should have thought of that myself - I think
I was
thinking they might behave similarly to the "change
text" list for some
reason. This will solve the problem!

Both questions are answered in the "Term List"
chapter of the manual, or
in the "Term Lists" section of EN Help. In short,
no and no; however,
term lists can be exported/imported, which can serve for
editing with a 
text editor, as well as for backing up.
