Hi Monica,
As others have pointed out, Endnote Web is not much use for
CWYW at this
point, but I do think it's strength is in sharing
bibliographies. My
institution is still on EN9, and export/import with ENWeb is
clunky. I
understand that transferring references from endnote 10
desktop and
endnote web is very smooth.
Even without this facility, I was able to export a subset of
my library
to my endnote web account and make it accessible to my
students instead
of hading out a paper bibliography this last semester. I was
able to add
to this library throughout the semester as the students'
interests and
research progressed. The feedback I received suggested that
most of them
found it easy to import references from my shared library
into their own
endnote web libraries, and it jump-started their reading on
their
resesarch projects. Note that they cannot modify references
they have
access to in my shared library. This was a
"one-way" sharing use.
In a collaborative project, each member would create an
endnote web
library and share it with the other members.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you could make
one "group
library" which everyone could modify. Shared libraries
can only be
modified by their originator. Nonetheless, I suspect this
application
could work for the kinds of exchanges you describe.
and yes, ENWeb is part of the university site licence.
HOpe it works out. We'll all be interested to hear of your
experience.
