Question about citation formatting

Hi there,

I have just subscribed, so sorry if this has come up in the
past or if
the answer is available elsewhere. If so, I haven't found
it.

Using the basic "Author-Date" output style, I have
my EndNote X set up
to display citations as follows:

(Author Year: Cited Pages)

When I don't enter page numbers, it knows to leave out the
colon and
citations just show up as author and year, e.g. (Escobar
1991), which is
exactly the way I want it.

However, when I have several citations or if I add a suffix
to a single
citation, then it sticks in the colon even though there are
no pages and
I'm citing the work as a whole. Thus I get things like:

(Escobar 1991: ; 1995: 14-17) instead of my desired (Escobar
1991; 1995:
14-17)

or (Apffel-Marglin 1991: and references contained therein)
instead of
(Apffel-Marglin 1991 and references contained therein)

Can anyone tell me how to make the insertion of the colon
conditional on
whether I have entered page numbers for that specific
reference?

Thanks very much!
Sincerely,
jamie
