Hi. We're using Endnote X on Windows XP or 2000.

I received a Word file that contained an Endnote bib, but I
didn't have
access to the corresponding .enl file and I was working with
someone who
did not want that bib formatted as an Endnote field. I
thought I'd just
strip the fields from the bib itself and convert that bib
and the
citations to plain text. From Word 2003, I selected Tools
> Endnote X >
Remove Field Codes. That did what I wanted in that the bib
converted
from a field to plain, editable text. However, it also broke
much of the
formatting in the document. Headers and other Styles broke.
Maybe it was
the case that the document didn't use Styles in the right
way to begin
with, but I thought that it did (at first glance). Is there
something
about doing that--removing the endnote fields--that is
delicate or that
I missed implementing?

What is the advised way to share Endnote-bib-enabled Word
files with
someone who is in any of these situations:

1 recipient does not have access to the .enl file
2 recipient does not have Endnote at all
3 recipient does not want an Endnote bib in their
document--they want a
bib that's formatted as plain text

For the first two instances, are these mute points because
of the
Traveling Library? And related to this: the bib that I
received
yesterday had entries that were in the wrong order--I'm not
sure which
filter they used, but it was in some sort of weird,
illogical order. I
could not move those entries around at all. The bib was one
field and it
was nearly impossible to isolate one entry in it and move it
to another
part of the bib. How would one do that?

What do you advise for someone in that third situation?
