Subject: Research into the use of EndNote
Dear all
Is anyone aware of any research into how Endnote (or
bibliographic software
in general) has changed academic work. I am particularly
interested in case
studies that might reveal if academics are doing things
quite differently as
a result of the productivity and connectivity elements of
using this kind of
software. This would be in contrast to a position where
academics simply use
the software to do what they already do (but faster OR more
'elegantly'). I
am not interested in reviews or comparisons of different
software use which
seem to be fairly common BUT perhaps studies that take
either a
psychological or phenomenological perspective. It would also
be interesting
to hear if any studies have investigated the nature of
changing community
practices (of Endnote users etc). This could include here
folk sharing
Endnote libraries through to how Endnote users support each
other (including
this listserv if any studies exist).
I won't go into anymore detail here but if anyone wishes to
follow it up
they can reply through the list or privately if they think
that would be
more suitable.
In anticipation of hearing from a 'more informed voice'
John Roder
PS - Extensive keyword searching in various databases is
producing less than
useful links (mostly to reviews of software or debate on
merits of technical
features). Any ideas for improving my searches also greatly
appreciated.
