Welcome to the club.
When I had the problem (only I had reboot loops, not WSOD --
you must've
disabled lifeguard resets) I managed to get into the desktop
by
performing random actions while the device was booting
(holding down
various keys, plugging and unplugging the USB cable).
It is entirely possible that my actions had nothing to do
with my
eventual success, and it's just that the weather applet
crashes
randomly, but not every time.
I know at least two other people who had this problem and
managed to fix
it without reflashing, so have hope.
