On behalf of the Globus Toolkit Project I am pleased to
announce that a
new development release of the Globus Toolkit, version
4.1.0, is now
available for download. GT 4.1.0 contains a first look at
several new
features destined for release in GT 4.2. Note that this
distribution is
not recommended for use in production deployments
(production users should
deploy the latest stable release, GT 4.0.2.)
4.1.0 includes several exciting new features! Early adopters
are invited
to experiment with the distribution and report their
findings on the
Globus email lists and bugzilla.globus.org. Highlights of
this release
include:
- Persistent HTTP/S connection support (Java WS Core)
- Dynamic deployment support (Java WS Core)
- JBOSS 4.0.x support (Java WS Core)
- A new implementation of WS-ServiceGroup (C WS Core)
- C command-line tools for WSRF operations (C WS Core)
- Support for GetResourceProperties and
QueryResourceProperties
(Delegation Service)
- Support for the OGSA-AuthZ Authorization Service
interface (CAS)
- Server-side attribute-based authorization framework
enhancements
- Support for a pluggable Policy Decision Point (PDP)
designed to
minimize common authorization errors
- Enhanced security descriptor framework
- A Web service interface for the Replica Location Service
(RLS)
- Improved data service resource support in OGSA-DAI
- Improved support for multiple TriggerRules (Trigger
Service)
- Improved configuration options for the Trigger Service
- Java API to assist in creating resource properties from
external
information sources
- A new resource manager (RM) adapter API (WS GRAM)
Note that the features and public interfaces in this release
are not
frozen and may change in future 4.1.x releases.
