My company is currently interested in purchasing the
commercial
version of ieSpell. However, they have an aversion for
programs that
utilize Javascript and/or ActiveX.

A rep from ieSpell mentioned that the plugin is simply a COM
object
that uses IE's exposed API to add the spell-checking
capability. Can
someone translate that for me? Does this mean that no
ActiveX is in
use by default?

Any insight on this plugin would be of much help. I need to
know very
soon for an upcoming project. Thanks in advance.

The owner of "iespell" will probably respond to
your post but we
all have a tendency to protect him, because he has been
very
good to us... plain and simple

Hi Dallas,

In a way, ieSpell is an ActiveX control that interacts with
webpage via
DHTML. The only difference is that ieSpell cannot be
downloaded on the
fly but has to be installed on the user's PC first before it
can be
used.

I hope the explanation above doesn't confuse you further...

Cheers
Sidney
