We are considering purchasing access to an electronic
resource
which will require that our library patrons register and
provide
their personal names -- not a username -- before accessing
the
database. Several of us feel that the identification of each
user
by personal name voids privacy and we should seek to
negotiate
this requirement out of the license agreement.
Have any of you dealt with a database provider who required
this
form of identification and registration? How did you view
this
requirement and how did you handle the license as a result
of
your assessment of this aspect?
Thanks for your comments.
