AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR PARENTERAL AND ENTERAL NUTRITION
(A.S.P.E.N.) SELECTS SAGE TO PUBLISH ITS JOURNALS FROM MARCH
2008
Los Angeles, bond, New Delhi, and Singapore (February 27,
2008)
- SAGE, the world's fifth largest journals publisher, is
pleased
to announce that as of March 2008 it will publish the
Journal of
Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (JPEN) and Nutrition in
Clinical
Practice (NCP) both for A.S.P.E.N., the American Society for
Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.
"A.S.P.E.N.'s journals have consistently been rated our
top
member benefit; the partnership with SAGE will expand our
readership far beyond the limits imposed by
self-publication,"
said Bridget Struble, Publications Manager at A.S.P.E.N.
"The
marketing and online distribution benefits alone made SAGE
the
obvious choice for us."
Both titles are currently hosted online via HighWire Press
and
will be added to SAGE Journals Online (SJO), recently named
"Best
Platform" by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing
division
of the Association of American Publishers. This transition
is
expected to be quick as HighWire is SAGE's technology
partner for
SJO. For the first time, libraries will now have access to
COUNTER compliant usage statistics for JPEN and NCP. The
journals' sites will now also include advanced search
features,
articles published ahead of print with OnlineFirst, and Web
2.0
features such as PDA article downloading and RSS feeds.
The first SAGE issue of JPEN will be March/April 2008 and
NCP
will debut in April/May 2008. JPEN will be available on SJO
at
http://jpen.sagepub.com
and NCP at http://ncp.sagepub.com.
"JPEN's ultimate goal is to continue to be the premier
clinical
nutrition journal publishing cutting-edge science in the
fields
of nutrition therapeutics, mechanistic and translational
science,
and nutrition-based clinical trials," commented Dr.
Paul
Wischmeyer, Editor-in-Chief of JPEN. "This new
partnership with
SAGE is a true watershed moment in the history of our
journal,
which will greatly enhance the availability and impact of
our
journal in the rapidly growing field of nutrition
therapy."
"NCP, as the premier nutrition support practice
journal, educates
nutrition professionals and promotes evidence-based
nutrition
support practices," said Dr. Jeanette Hasse, NCP
Editor-in-Chief.
"Our partnership with SAGE will allow us to broaden our
readership and expand our efforts to disseminate important
information on specialized nutrition."
"SAGE has seen significant growth in its science,
technology and
medical (STM) portfolio," stated Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice
President
of Global Journals Business Development. "SAGE aims to
be the
natural home for societies such as A.S.P.E.N. and we will
collaborate with them and the editors to take their journals
to
the next level of visibility and prestige."
