The Association of Subscription Agents and Intermediaries
(ASA)
seeks a new Secretary General The ASA is looking for someone
with
good knowledge of the industry to take on the role of
Secretary
General when the present incumbent leaves later this year.
The
position of Secretary General is perhaps better described as
Chief Executive of the ASA in case you were wondering what a
Secretary General does!
The main requirements for the job are as follows:
Experience
Applicants should have experience at a senior level in a
subscription agency, intermediary and/or journal publishing
company and have a wide range of contacts in the industry.
The
role is international in scope and some travel is a
requirement.
There is no necessity to be resident in the UK.
The work entails:
* Writing and editing ASA News
* Designing and organising the annual conference
* Representing the ASA by writing papers, making
presentations
and attending appropriate meetings
* Representing the interests of the ASA on standards and
other
similar bodies and associations
* Representing the ASA to Publishers as required
* Handle, together with the Treasurer, the ASA finances
* Promote the ASA to potential new members and renew
existing
ones
* Organise AGM and committee meetings
* Undertake cooperative projects within the ASA
* Provide advice to members on non-competitive issues
* Liaise with the executive committee and membership
through
email and meetings.
