Journal of Fluid Mechanics Digital Archive 1956-1996 goes
live
Cambridge University Press has announced that every issue of
the
Journal of Fluid Mechanics is now online. One of
Cambridge's
most successful journals has had its first four decades of
issues, estimated at 200,000 pages, digitised and made
available
online.
The Journal of Fluid Mechanics has presented authoritative
articles on fundamental aspects of fluid mechanics, and
their
applications to other many fields such as aeronautics,
astrophysics, biology, hydraulics, meteorology,
oceanography,
geology, acoustics and combustion.
Geoff Nuttall, Editorial Director at Cambridge University
Press
Journals: "This is a marvellous achievement and a
tremendous
repository of knowledge containing every article from 1956
to
1996. Articles from 1997 onwards were already available
through
Cambridge Journals Online so the complete journal is now
accessible digitally."
Journal of Fluid Mechanics editors, S H Davis and T J Pedley
added; "The progress made over the last 50 years has
been
astonishing, attracting to the field an enormous array of
talented scientists and engineers worldwide. These
brilliant
people have been attracted because of the beauty of the
subject,
its visual allure and complexity."
The archive is hosted on the Cambridge Journals platform and
is
accessible by IP range, username and password, ATHENS,
Shibboleth
and referred URL. It has COUNTER 2 compliant usage
statistics and
all references are linked via CrossRef and Google Scholar.
