Randy -

Sorry for the earlier post ... i pressed the "GO" button prematurely ...

i have found three ;categories of solutions, each designed to satisfy the requirements of three different specific types of customers:

[1] Superlative professional solutions designed to protect content and prevent (pre-crack) unauthorized copy, theft, or download (website managers, large studios, website hosts, and media distributors):

    . The Global File Registry: ; http://www.globalfileregistry.com/solutions_contentowners.aspx

    . Digimarc Corporation: http://www.digimarc.com/

    . EIKONA-mark: http://www.alphatecltd.com/watermarking/watermarking.html

[2] "Stand-Alone" "do-it-yourself" solutions for individual content-creators "on a budget" seeking to permanently embed legal proof of ownership and copyright information (post-crack) within their work: i.e. (a song-writer, photographer, or videographer):

. (really too many to list - very much "share-ware" is available - so try a search on "invisible watermark" - I have tried many of these)

[3] Solutions for developers of new products: Microsoft Research Foundation offers "source code" to developers:

http://research.microsoft.com/research/downloads/Details/885bb5c4-ae6d-418b-97f9-adc9da8d48bd/Details.aspx?CategoryID=

"Open Source Code Project" (lost the link - try Wicapedia)

i know very little as yet ... and still searching, and hope to learn more .. so keep watching this thread for recommendations from others who are obviously far more knowlegeable than me.

i wish there were a button in Media Encoder *laughing*

I was told that stenography (Shortened from Steganography) uses a different method of invisibly embedding ownership and copyright information into a bit stream, and even printed images, that is extremely resilient.

Yep, that’s what your printer (probably) does.

Can they be used effectively without compromising the quality of the media stream ?

In my opinion, yes. Video and audio solutions express a small amount of data over a long period of time, so the effect can be robust and unperceivable.
