wearing the HA with my CI. I was having some difficulty understanding the

came through clear. That was the end of the HA for me. I certainly don't
want to do anything that is hurting my speech discrimination.

As to getting a second implant, I just in the last month received a letter
from my CI center telling me that Blue Cross in Alabama is now covering
bilaterals. I understand someone sued them and as part of the settlement,
they now have to cover them. I may qualify for a second one, but I'm not
sure I'm ready for that yet. I can still wake to a clock radio, hear
thunder, and hear other environmental sounds. The thought of being stone
DEAF without my CI at night is troubling to me. I am pondering it, but not
ready to go for the bilateral just yet. Maybe in a few years or if my
hearing declines further.

I'm sorry you've been going through so much difficulty lately. I hope things
will get better for you.>>
Hi Lynn,
Oh, I didn't realize you did try it right away. That would've been the
'kicker' for anybody too! Especially if you heard clearer withOUT the HA. As far
as going bilateral... I completely understand your thoughts on that especially
if you have some residual hearing in that unimplanted ear that allows you to
actually hear environmental sounds! That's why Julie got upset when her
unimplanted ear was 'cutting in and out' it was SO bad she went without her HA
and therefore was so OFF balance (because she hears with both devices) she
couldn't function enough to go to school. Being 16 made EVERYTHING worse...
naturally! But... in her defense... I saw her face when she reralized it was her
hearing and not the HA and she suddenly got a reality check on just how
precious that residual hearing is. At the thought of getting bilaterals she teared
up and said... no way. Thanks for the good wishes Lynn. I think things will be
on the up and up:::fingers crossed:::::
