Hi Matthew,
I thank you for all the advice. You have given me a few things to look
at that I did not think too. We have 34 of the 4000/4050 models I had
one that randomly printed blank pages. I thought it might have
something to do with the HVP that tear down pretty much left it in
pieces strewn all over my cubby. This same printer had a major toner
leak a few weeks before when I got to the HVP it had splatters of toner
all over it. I haven't had any complaints since I put it back together.
Was it the toner or a weak ground contact that was corrected after
reassembly I can't say? The customer is happy and that is all that
counts.
With our Lord's blessings take care,
Doug

Subject: [Laser Printer Repair] Re: Question about an HP LaserJet 4050
Another test you could try is to remove one of the Cassette's and
hold up the paper flag, and do a test print and when the Roller spins
to pick paper, see if you see anything unusual. Outside of this, it
is something in that Gear Train for the Tray 2 & 3 Drive. If you are
comfortable (or desperate), I would recomend you just start
diassembling. Could be something as simple as a piece of broken
plastic stuck between (2) of the Gear Teeth that is unseen without
diassembly of the printer. I had that with a LJ 8100. Suggested to
replace the whole Main Drive Assembly, and when I went to pull the
Assembly, there was a tiny piece of plastic that was causing a
thumping, every time that portion of the Gear meshed with another
Gear. Wish I could be of more assistance, but with noises, they can
be hard to determine sometimes. Also, never outrule the good ole
Registration Assembly. I have seen these Squeak, Squeal, and
everything in between.
